Does your ward have a CPC (Child Protection Committee)? Are you or your organisation involved in it? What is the need for such a committee? Who are its members?
A GR dated 11 June 2014 announced that at every village level and ward level in Maharashtra, there must a Child Protection Committee constituted. It is a great move in compliance with Section 106 of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015. A CPC can truly be an effective mechanism in building a protective environment for all children.
5 years on and there is still much work cut out for the state and us, civil society. If you or your organisation is interested in participating, supporting or leading this process forward in your ward of residence, join us at the public meeting on CPC! Here, we will discuss the process of constituting, activating, functioning the CPC and how to do outreach. We will also discuss roles and responsibilities of the members and other possibilities for CPC.
